Having personally chosen Burlington as a home for my family, I can share some wonderful things about this city. It is conveniently located between Toronto and Niagara allowing us more options for day trips. For business purposes, there are 3 choices for GO train stations that can quickly get you into Union Station while relaxing and reading a paper. If you travel on your job, you can go to the Toronto or Buffalo airports to catch flights.
But more importantly why people end up staying in Burlington is because of the community. I can honestly say I’m proud to be living in Burlington, ON. In 2016, Money Sense ranked it the second best city to live based on low taxes and high household and discretionary income and the second lowest overall crime rate in the country.
Recently about 4000 participants were involved in our city’s strategic plan. The vision is “where people, nature and business thrive.” The values are: we are a caring, friendly and inclusive community, we value innovation and trusted partnerships, and we demonstrate respect by being fair and ethical.
The priorities of the plan are Vibrant Neighbourhoods (people friendly and rural protection), Prosperity (“a place to spend a lifetime, with work, volunteer and having options that are appropriate for every stage of life”), and a well-managed local Government. I am one of many who strongly support these goals for Burlington.
We have many different restaurants, ample community centres, a new Performing Arts Centre, and shopping options. We have some great local festivals in Spencer Smith park right by the lake. There is so much to do if you enjoy the outdoors.
If you do indeed decide that Burlington is the right place for you, the next step is determining which neighbourhood. Each neighbourhood in Burlington is quite distinctive. Millcroft by the golf course, the Orchard with a young family feel, the large homes of Rosedale and Shoreacres to the charm of rolling hills in Tyandaga. There’s so many more to consider each with its own unique features. I would suggest if you are new to the area that you contact a local real estate
